Between different Catalan counties, one of the most interesting and beautiful routes of these regions is structured: La Ruta del Cister. A route that connects the three Cistercian monasteries located in this area: Santes Creus, Poblet and Vallbona de les Monges.

It is, therefore, an ideal historical route to take you on a journey through time on two wheels, pedaling over ancient paths and magical footpaths.

You will travel 200km between the counties of Priorat, Baix Camp, Tarragonès, Conca de Barberà, Alt Camp and l’Urgell, passing through 24 villages with an ascending level of 5596 D+ and you will be able to choose the number of stages to adapt the route to your cycling level

THE CISTER PEDAL ROUTE

The route will start in Cornudella de Montsant (Priorat), where the briefing will take place and where you will receive all that you need to pedal and enjoy the surroundings. With a total of 200km and an ascending gradient of 5596 D+, the Pedals del Cister route is a circular itinerary and you will travel through the Baix Camp area, Alt Camp passing through different towns such as Mont-ral, La Riba, El Pla de Santa Maria (among others), until you reach Santes Creus (km 79.67), the first town with one of the Cistercian monasteries.

To reach Vallbona de les Monges (km 126.97) there is a good stretch and with the batteries charged, you will resume the route passing through different towns and districts such as Montbrió de la Marca, Forès (highest population in Tarragona), Belltall and Rocallaura, now in the province of Lleida.

To reach the last Cistercian monastery, that of Poblet (km 157), the intensity will not be so high since the distance is closer where you will enjoy a spectacular downhill trail, reaching large expanses of vineyards and a totally fresh landscape, it will be a good time to prepare for the final stretch to Cornudella de Montsant, passing through Prades and Albarca, and you will put an end to this fantastic route.

A route to enjoy landscapes and also great wines, since it goes through four great denominations of origin: DO Montsant, DO Tarragona, DO Conca de Barberà and DO Costers del Segre.
